The Holy Spirit was given to the Church by Christ from the Father to proclaim the way of salvation, to declare the mighty works of God in Christ Jesus for the redemption of sinners. This has and will always be the work of Christ’s Church Militant. Everything she does is revolves around making known how we might be saved, as St. Peter pointed to repentance and Holy Baptism as the way of salvation to those who had been cut to the heart by his sermon on Pentecost. The Holy Spirit gathers sinners of every nation under heaven so that they, in their own tongues, hear Christ’s preaching and are pointed to His cross and empty tomb as the only source of forgiveness and eternal life. It is this Gospel of Christ that continues to draw Christ’s people together to be strengthened and encouraged in this faith. May the good news of Christ and the opportunity to receive the fruits of His cross in Holy Communion draw you to the apostolic preaching that you too may comforted and strengthened in the true faith.
