Sometimes the hardest thing about the Christian faith is that we can’t simply explain everything in a world that insists on proof (even though so much of what our world believes is built on lies). But there is much of God that we aren’t given to know or are even capable of knowing. The Holy Trinity is a perfect example of that. We can’t wrap our finite minds around the infinite existence of God as three coequal yet distinct persons in one Godhead. There is no picture or description that can ever adequately capture the trinitarian nature and relationship. But that doesn’t negate its reality. We are only given to confess it and to receive with joy that this God – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit – has redeemed us and given us the new birth of Holy Baptism according to His gracious will. So, without the aid of reason and science, let us joyfully confess the Holy Trinity who has revealed Himself to us and redeemed us from sin and death. I look forward to seeing you all this coming Lord’s Day.
