Second Sunday in Lent

Faith knows that there is no help outside of Jesus. The Lord Jesus Christ, upon whom was laid the sin of the whole world, “who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy, who satisfies you with good…”, He is the one by whom and through whom we know God’s abundant mercy and goodness toward sinners. Only in Christ can we be certain that God is not a vindictive tyrant, but a merciful Father who delivers those who call upon Him in faith, Thus, faith will not let go of this Jesus. Faith will not be satisfied until it receives help from Him. Faith will not be satisfied with anything but a blessing from Jesus, but that is what God has promised. Even if it has to wait and suffer, faith is certain that blessing will follow because God cannot be other than what He has promised. There is simply no other god, no other good to which we can turn. Faith will not be turned away. Faith falls at the feet of Jesus and cries out for mercy confident that Jesus will give it. Bring all your sorrows and troubles and gather with your fellow petitioners before the throne of Christ who not only promises to hear your prayers but also to answer them in the richness of His mercy. I look forward to gathering together with all of you this coming Lord’s Day to receive the mercy and help of Jesus.
