This past Sunday we heard again the account of our Lord Jesus Christ spending forty days in the harsh wilderness waiting patiently for His Heavenly Father to provide His daily bread in due season. This week the Canaanite women patiently endures Jesus’ disciplining (which always hurts in the moment) because she trusts in the promises of God. Faith waits because faith knows that God will keep His promises. Faith doesn’t measure the time. It is fixed constantly on the character of the one who made the promise. God does not fail. He has promised to save you, to help you, to deliver you, to forgive you. He will do those things. Wait patiently for the Lord. Do not be deterred by the delay. At the proper time, He will give you what is good far more than you could ever desire or deserve. Strengthen yourself by hearing His promises and receiving the food of salvation – the very Body and Blood of His beloved Son. I look forward to seeing you this coming Lord’s Day.
