“You are built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus Himself being the cornerstone…” And what a strong foundation it is! Our faith is founded on the witness of those who spoke with God and who were with Christ throughout His earthly ministry. Ours is not a shaken or uncertain foundation that might crack apart and collapse. With Christ Jesus as our cornerstone holding together the whole household of God, not even the gates of hell will be able to overcome the faith that we confess on the basis of Holy Scripture, the very word of God Himself to His people that we may know Him and call upon His Name. Saints Philip and James shed their blood confessing this faith because they were absolutely assured that Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life and that there was no other way to the Father except through His Blood. Thus, it is our joy to confess boldly with them; Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God. I look forward to gathering and confessing with all of you this coming Sunday in our Father’s house as together we grow and are built into a dwelling place for God by the Spirit.
