Daniel is thrown into certain death only to be delivered by God from the lions’ mouths and walk out from his “grave” that had been sealed with a large stone. Daniel is a wonderful example of faithful Christian service in the midst of an unbelieving kingdom, even when that faithful service is rewarded with persecution. Daniel’s trust remained in the true God even when doing so made him a target for martyrdom. He would not cease praying. He would not cease remaining in God’s Word. He entrusted himself to the good and gracious will of God and obeyed God rather than men. God delivered Daniel and brought glory to His own Name and brought Daniel’s enemies into destruction. God grant us such faithfulness and trust in His words and promises that, like Daniel, we do not fear the lions that prowl all around us seeking to destroy our faith in Christ.
