In this week’s lesson, faithful King Josiah zealously removes all the false worship from Judah and restores the faithful celebration of the Passover. Unfortunately, his reforms would not last and his unfaithful sons would lead Judah back into idolatry. God had determined that, like Israel, Judah would be punished for her idolatry and so He used King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon to destroy the temple and carry away the people of Judah into exile where they would remain for 70 years according to God’s Word. But God is faithful to His promises and He preserved the line of David and through that line brought for the Messiah, our Lord Jesus Christ.
