In this chapter, we see Elijah run in fear from the wrath of Jezebel even though God had just shown Himself to be the only true God. By coming to Elijah in a low whisper we are reminded that God approaches sinners veiled in humility. The Lord promises that He will bring judgment on His enemies and that He will preserve His Church by His Word even in the midst of great affliction and persecution.
